Tarkarli Beach, One of the Best Beaches to Visit in Maharashtra

Tarkali beach is one of the famous beaches of Sindhudurg
district in Maharashtra. The beach is located in the Malvan Taluka of the district
and is very much known among the tourists for its adventure activities. The reasons behind the immense popularity of the beach is its long and narrow stretch of glittering sands along with its captivating blue waters that supports several water sports activities. The already scenic is made more attractive with the plantation of Shuru trees along the shorelines.

Attractions
Apart from the peaceful and scenic surroundings of this place, it is also highly known for the adventure water sports activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, boating and white water rafting. Among these, snorkeling and scuba diving are the highly popular water sports activities of the beach. In fact it is one of the few places in Maharashtra where you can enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving.  
The Mapurush temple, which is located at a close distance from the Tarkali beach, is one of the prime attractions of the area. The Ramnnavmi Utsav, celebrated during the month of March, is the main highlight of this temple.  During the festival, cultural programmes and dramas are performed.

If the tourists visiting the Tarkarli beach want to visit a historic site for a change, they can also visit the Sindhudurg fort, stretching over an area of about 44 acres on the Kurte Island. This historic site is located at the northern part of Tarkarli and is considered to be one of the most visit sites in the region.  
Besides all these, cruising on the luxury houseboat along the backwaters of the Karli River is also a good option to explore the scenic beauty of the region.

Best time to visit
Though the place experiences pleasant climate throughout the year, the most appropriate time to visit the Tarkarli beach is from the months of October to March. The summers of this place falls between March to June and the temperature does not exceed from 32 degree Celsius during this time of the year. During winter season, which fall between the months of November to February, also experiences pleasant with the temperature not falling below 21 degree Celsius. The place experiences moderate heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, which falls between the months of July to September.

Accommodation
Staying is not much of a problem for the tourists visiting the beach of Tarkarli. The area is dotted with many mid budget and budget hotels that make staying at this place, a comfortable one. Apart from the hotels and resorts that are found at this place, one can also opt to stay at the luxury houseboats that cruise along the tranquil waters of Karli River. These houseboats are facilitated with almost all the modern facilities that you can find in modern day standard hotels.

How to Reach
By Air:  The nearest airport to the place is Dabolim airport in Goa, located at a distance of about 81 km. The airport is well linked with several major cities of India like Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.  Regular taxi and bus services are available outside the airport to get to the Tarkarli beach.
By Rail: The closest railway station to the Tarkarli beach is Kudal, located at a distance of about 45 km. The station conducts regular trains from places like Mangalore, Goa, Pune, Mumbai and Bikaner. Bus services and hired taxi services are available from outside this station to the place.  
By Road: The beach is easily accessible from the nearest major bus stand in Malvan, located at a distance of just 6 km.  Malvan conducts regular public and private services from places like Pune, Mumbai and Kolhapur. Apart from the bus services that connect the beach, one can also hire a taxi from Malvan to get to the place.
